Side Hustles

I recently heard that a Side Hustle was defined as things you enjoy doing for income in addition to your main source of income. Nowadays, having a side hustle is very common. Some people have more than one, in addition to their main job or career. People have side hustles for many different reasons. One may be saving for something special like a vacation, paying for college, a wedding, honeymoon, or additional life events. Other people may have a side hustle for a consistent flow of income to supplement their main source. Either way, the important keys to starting a side hustle are: 1. Taking an assessment of your skills! Most people have skills that can be beneficial to others. 2. Taking an assessment of things you have a passion for! 3. Finding ways to monetize them! Here are some ideas: Driving: DoorDash Instacart Uber UberEats Project management: Social Media Management Virtual Assistant Writing: Blogging Editing Author Teaching: Adjunct Professor Tutoring Coaching Sales: eBay Amazon Consignment Online store Boutique Poshmark Mercari Etsy Cooking: Caterer Baker (cupcakes, cakes, brownies) The list can go on and on. This gives you a sense of things people are out here doing. They are making great income in which they can utilize for various reasons. For your side hustle, you can determine the amount of time you want to spend in each. It can be an hour a day, two hours a day, or four hours a week! You own your schedule. Remember that you are using skills you already have and the things you enjoy doing!

I can't remember a time that I haven't side hustled. Whether it was to make extra money to pay off debt or to buy extra "treats", it's a tool that everything should utilize. As you said, start by identifying your skills, talents, abilities that you can leverage.

Side hustles are HUGE on college campuses. My peers at Spelman love to do hair, nails, and make to go plates for other and they make decent money off of it too!
