A virtual assistant is someone who provides support to a business from a remote location. You do not have to leave your home, or you can be wherever you want to be and still make a living without actually making a daily commute to work.
What does a Virtual Assistant do?
A virtual assistant can perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: Administrative Work Content Creation Social Media Management Customer Service Research Email management Bookkeeping Managing a calendar Creating presentations The different tasks can be specific to the client’s needs or that of the virtual assistant’s services packages.
How much do virtual assistants make?
We all want to enjoy the work; however, bringing home the bacon is even better. Many Virtual Assistants (VA) have started the role as a side hustle and left their full-time job due to the money that can be made as a VA. This is the case for Joy Aliba Edumu, a Virtual Assistant from Uganda. Joy quit her 9 to 5 job working as a social media manager for a tech company to start her virtual assistant business. Earning good money per month from her virtual assistant job, Joy stumbled on a virtual assistant opportunity for a business owner in the United States and was offered the role. Carrying out her virtual assistant roles during the night due to an 8 hour time difference, Joy performed her role as a side hustle despite earning more than thrice her salary from her 9 to 5 job. However, after one year of saving her salary from her 9-5 job, Joy gained the courage to quit and start her own virtual assistant business. She learned that she would make more by working for herself rather than under a company. This is because she would set her own rates and price her services as she wished. Virtual Assistants have the flexibility to set their own rates and their own hours and packages of services. Charging hourly isn’t the only way virtual assistants would set their services; some charge per project, offering a flat rate for each project or a retainer package for several hours per week or month.
What skills do you possess as an individual that you believe you can offer to a business owner? Are you proficient in writing, editing, or time management? These are several skills virtual assistants can use to land their first client.
How much do you want to charge per hour, daily or weekly? This decision is solely yours and is the key to enabling you to earn from your work.
The virtual assistant world is evolving every second. Specific services are more profitable than others, so it is essential to learn the best practices and skills one needs to stand out from the competition.
